Lakota superintendent says cost-saving efforts efficient

As Lakota officials seek ways to cut costs, Superintendent Mike Taylor said priorities will focus on student engagement and achievement.

He and Treasurer Craig Jones presented a plan to the board of education Monday, June 23 that includes ways the district already is saving money and future plans.

One change, Jones said, was to allocate building funds based on needs rather than a per-pupil amount. Each building administrator received the top two requests, and Jones said it ultimately will save money by centralizing purchases to buy in bulk.
